What Does the Concept-to-Shelf Approach Mean?
Concept-to-shelf means a single strategic partner guides your product from idea to shelf — eliminating coordination loss between your designer, manufacturer and marketing team, because everyone works from the same strategy. This is how you avoid the mistakes responsible for 70–80% of FMCG product launch failures.
The Full Process — 6 Stages
Every project is unique, but the same logic connects concept validation to shelf placement.
Market Validation & Product Strategy
We define the target market, competitor positioning, and the unique value proposition the product is built on. The business objective drives every decision that follows.
Product Concept & Positioning
The vague idea becomes a concrete product definition: name, category, price range, key messages, product variants and the direction for a long-term product family.
Brand Identity & Visual System
Logo, colour palette, typography, visual direction and tone of voice — an identity that stays consistent across packaging, digital presence and every communication channel.
Packaging Design & Print Preparation
Retail-ready packaging that sells on shelf and online — with mandatory labelling, print-ready files and retailer-ready mockups.
Manufacturing Coordination & Quality
Supplier network, specification compilation, sample production coordination and oversight of the first production run. This stage determines whether the design becomes a real product.
Go-to-Market — Retail, Online, B2B
Retail listing pack, sales presentation, webshop and campaign launch. All channels at once, from a unified strategy.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much of the product development process does Lab2Label handle?+
Lab2Label can be involved in the entire concept-to-shelf journey — from the first strategy session to retail placement. We work on exactly the phases your project requires: sometimes a client already has a product and only needs packaging; sometimes we start from zero and walk the whole process together.
Which sectors have you worked in?+
Primarily supplements and nutraceuticals, cosmetics and personal care, and food and functional beverages. We also have experience in private label projects and import-localisation work across EU markets.
How long does a full concept-to-shelf project take?+
It depends on the complexity and how quickly decisions are made, but a typical project starting from a raw idea takes 4–9 months. Standalone packaging design takes 6–10 weeks. Go-to-market planning and launch coordination also runs 6–12 weeks.
What is the difference between product development and private label?+
Product development creates a unique product from scratch — your own formula, your own brand, your own positioning. Private label takes an existing manufacturer product and places your brand name and packaging on it. We support both models. The right choice depends on how much control you want over the formula and how quickly you need to reach market.
Do I need a finished product to start working with you?+
No. The most common starting point is an idea or an identified market gap. We start exactly where you are — whether that is a sketch, a half-formed concept, or a finished formula that needs a brand and packaging.
How do we get started?+
The first step is a free consultation where we learn about your product idea, target market and project parameters. We send a proposal within 5–7 business days, including a recommended project scope and price.
